The family of Mark Edward Vaughan has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor Mark with a flag line showing our respect and appreciation for his service to his country, state and community. In 1968 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base and there he met the love of his life, Mary Hawkins. On September 5, 1968 they married in Rapid City. Mark joined the South Dakota Highway Patrol and had a long and prosperous career with the SDHP and Davison County Sheriff’s Department.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, January 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial with Military Honors will be in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel, 805 West Havens Ave., Mitchell, SD. Visitation will be a “flags only” flag line.
Stage: 9:00 am, Friday, January 12 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 222 N. Kimball St., Mitchell, SD to place the flag line and for a short briefing.
Please remember to dress for the extremely cold temps that we are having this time of the year and know that your safety comes first if you need to step off line to warm up. Flags will be provided.
