Funeral Mass/Burial Mission
October 6 & 7, 2024

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Lyle John Healy to show our appreciation and respect to Lyle with a flag line in honor of his service to his and our great country. Lyle served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on March 30, 1955.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday October 7, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Montrose, SD. Visitation with family present will begin at 6 pm on Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 pm, also at the church. The visitation and funeral mass will be “Flags Only”.
Stage: 11:00 am, Monday October 7th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, 255th St., (Fuller Avenue, Rural) Montrose, SD.
Flags will be provided.

Escort/Burial/Military Honors

The family of James “Jim” Jones, of Sibley, IA, has requested an escort to his final resting place in the SD Veterans Cemetery. The Patriot Guard Riders will honor him with this request being fulfilled.
* At the young age of 17, Jim showed his dedication to our country by joining the United States Marine Corps and was willing to sacrifice his life for our freedom. He was stationed stateside as well as locations in Vietnam, Japan and Germany. He served nine years In the Marine Corp from 1964 -1973, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He then served in the U.S. Army for eleven years from 1974 – 1985, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his service, he studied Criminal Justice at LSCC overseas.
* Jim went on to have a successful career in law enforcement. He worked first at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for 19 years from 1993 – 2004 where he promoted to the rank of Captain. He then went on to work for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department in West Virginia, promoted to the rank of Captain.
* His patriotism never wavered even after his military service as he participated in 20 Midwest Honor Flight missions, welcoming home his brothers and sisters in the military as they arrived on their flights back to South Dakota.
* James “Jim” Jones age, 77 of Sibley, IA died Monday, September 30, 2024, at home in Sibley, IA. Jim’s services are to be on October 3rd & 4th in in Sibley, IA and then he will be brought to the SD Veterans Cemetery on Monday, October 7th for burial.
Stage for the escort: 12:30 PM, October 7th at the storage units, on the North side of the hiway in Rowena, SD.
