   The family of Eric R. Erickson has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor and show our respect to Eric with a flag line.  Eric was a guard member for 38 years and earned many awards too numerous to list.

 
  Eric joined the National Guard in 1963 as part of C Battery in Sioux Falls, SD.  He trained as a field artilleryman.  In 1965 he transferred to HHB in Sioux Falls and worked in the communications section as a supply sergeant and food services sergeant.  Eric was assigned as food service sergeant and unit administrator for Battery B.  He was administrator for the local unit for 26 years.  This is where he earned the nickname “Bear”.  He saw the units change from artillery to multiple launch rocket system.  Eric retired as 1st Sergeant in 1997 and accepted the position as a SDNG representative for the Custer Youth Corrections Center Boot Camp in Custer, SD as a mentor.

 

   A funeral service will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, December 22 at Montrose United Methodist Church.  Visitation with family present will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday evening, also at the church.  Burial will be at the Hartford Cemetery at 3:15 pm on Saturday Dec. 22nd.
 
Stage: 11:30 am, Saturday, December 22 at Montrose United Methodist Church, 109 2nd Ave, Montrose, SD.
Flags will be provided for all elements of this mission.
