The wife of Dave Saunders, Jeanne, has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to be part of the escort to the SD State Cemetery for Dave’s interment. Jeanne stated “it’s been a process but this is where he requested to be buried. South Dakota became his home and he was proud of it”. Dave’s passing was on March 28, 2020. He was a past member of the Patriot Guard Riders and held many positions with many organizations during his time in SD. Dave served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.
You are invited to join the procession to inter Dave at the Eastern SD Veterans Cemetery, 25965 477th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 at 2:00pm on June 14, 2022 for the interment of Dave at the cemetery. We will leave from the south parking lot of the USS South Dakota @ 2705 W 12th St, Sioux Falls, SD and proceed at 2:00pm. Weather permitting all motorcycles/bikes are encouraged to be present. Suggested time to gather and line up is 1:45pm. Procession to the cemetery is anticipate to be between 25-35 minutes.
The Legion Riders will be taking the lead for this escort and we will be assisting.
THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE VETERANS CEMETERY:
*Arrive at the Administration Building 15 minutes prior to your scheduled committal service time. Upon arrival please stay in the right lane and park vehicles in the Funeral Procession Lane with the Funeral Director and/or Next of Kin(NOK) immediately behind the Funeral Procession Escort Vehicle (Black Suburban). If additional parking is needed, they can start a new line in the left lane.
The Administration Building has restrooms, and drinking fountains for families to use prior to the service. Handicap parking is also available at the Admin Building.
