Graveside Military Honors

   The family of Douglas “Doug” Kapaun has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Doug” with a flag line showing our appreciation and respect for his service to our great Nation.  On June 10, 1965, Doug enlisted in the United States Navy as a Radio Operator.  He served in Vietnam and was awarded the “National Defense Service Medal” and the “Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.”  Doug was honorably discharged in September 1968.

Doug’s Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., also at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.  Interment with Military Honors at Hills of Rest Cemetery.  The Visitation and Funeral at the funeral home will be “Flags Only”.

STAGE: 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, April 18th at Hills of Rest Cemetery, 3408 E. 10th St. Sioux Falls SD.  Enter the cemetery through the gate in the rear parking lot at George Boom Funeral Home.

Flags will be provided.
