The family of Raymond “Ray” Anderson, SDPGR Ride Captain, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Ray” with a flag line showing our appreciation and respect for his service to his community, state and to our great Nation. After graduating from high school in 1982, Ray joined the Army National Guard. In 1988, he decided to join the Army full time and was sent to Germany. While serving in Germany, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia to serve in Desert Storm. After re-enlisting in the Army, he was transferred stateside and served his final term in Louisiana. Ray then moved back to Delmont with his family and returned to the Army National Guard, full time. During his time with the National Guard, he did two tours in Iraq.
Ray also became a Volunteer Fireman with the Delmont Fire Department, which he was very dedicated to and served there as secretary for many years. He was also a Ride Captain for the Patriot Guards where he was always ready to honor his fellow veterans and show respect to their families. Ray will be missed and remembered by his brothers and sisters in the Patriot Guard and by his fellow fire fighters in his community.
