The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Phillip M. Mathison to show our appreciation and respect to Phillip with a flag line in honor of his service to his and our great country. Phil enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958 and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1963. Afterward, he and his family settled in Rapid City, SD, where he began his career with the Rapid City Fire Department. In 1966, they moved to Sioux Falls, where he continued his firefighting career with the Sioux Falls Fire Department, and was affectionately known as “Sam”. After 30 years of dedicated service, Phil retired in 1997 as a Fire Captain.
Phil’s Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2024 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, also at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Funeral Service and Visitation will be “Flags Only”.
