Flags Only/Funeral Mission

A request was received to place flags in honor, respect and appreciation for Floyd A. “Stone” Johnson’s service to his community, state and country in the South Dakota Army National Guard and as a Firefighter for 28 years. Floyd was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard 147th Field Artillery, serving from 1958 to 1962. He went to boot camp in September 1958 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He did his field artillery training at Fort Chaffee, AR. His unit was activated in October 1961, based at Fort Sill, OK. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in August 1962.
Floyd Johnson joined the Sioux Falls Fire Department in 1962. Floyd was given the nickname, Stone. Many people to this day call him Stone. He became a driver in 1967 and later in his career he was promoted to Lieutenant and Acting Captain. In 1988 Floyd was awarded Outstanding Fireman of the year. Floyd retired from the Sioux Falls Fire Department in 1990.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home and Crematory 3408 E. 10th St. in Sioux Falls, SD. The family will be present for visitation on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM also at George Boom Funeral Home and Crematory.
