SHORT NOTICE………
A welcome home ceremony will be held for seven firefighters from the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 451st Engineer Detachment on Friday, Sept. 7, at 12:30 p.m. (MDT) at the Duke Corning Armory on Camp Rapid, after completing a one-year tour to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Sturgis-based 451st provided firefighting services and protection of aviation and major facilities in Marmal, Afghanistan. It was the unit’s first deployment.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard and Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, adjutant general of the SDNG, will be featured speakers at the ceremony.
Staging will be 11:15 am at the Family Thrift Center Parking Lot in Baken Park. KSU at 11:30.
Due to the short notice, I’ll be taking the Ride Captain duties. Flags will be provided.
