Funeral Mission
September 22, 2017
Luverne, MN

   The family of Dale J. Dieltz, US Navy WWII veteran, has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with honor, dignity and respect at his funeral on Friday, September 22nd in Luverne, MN.

   Dale served our country in the Navy during World War II from January of 1944 – April 1946 aboard the USS New Mexico.  He was stationed in the South Pacific and served as a gunner’s mate, participating in battles at Leyte Gulf and Okinawa among others.  Dale recalled the survival of kamikaze attacks and being in Tokyo Harbor for the signing of the surrender.  He had been a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne since 2015.

Staging details:

1:30 pm:  Mission briefing at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 203 East Brown Street in Luverne.

3:00 pm:  Estimated dismissal.

   This mission will include an approximately 25 mile escort to the cemetery near Jasper, MN so please be sure that you arrive with adequate fuel.  We will be traveling at highway speeds so no large flags will be allowed on bikes.  Please bring your 3×5 flag for the flag line and anything else that you need to be self-sufficient for this mission and drive or ride safely as we gather to honor US Navy WWII Veteran Dale J. Dieltz and show our support for his family and loved ones.
