Message Request from our SD State Captain, Jim Lentsch
The Family of Ricky Brownell has contacted our SD State Captain, Jim Lentsch to share the sad news of Ricky’s passing, at the age of 69, on Monday, September 8, 2025, at his home. He was a proud member of the SD Patriot Guard Riders for many years and also a member of the Sons of Legion and Legion Riders from the American Legion Post 17 in Watertown, SD. Ricky has been the Patriot Guard Rider’s Ride Captain in the Watertown area for most of the years that he was a member of the PGR. Ricky gave generously of his time, often volunteering to do missions that were scattered throughout the area surrounding his home area.
Jim will be unable to attend the service for Ricky as he will be out of SD on the day of the service. He has known the Brownell Family since Ricky was a kid and would very much like to be in attendance if he could. He would like to know that the Patriot Guard Riders would be there to show our appreciation for Ricky’s years of service with the PGR, as a member and as a Ride Captain. Ricky may not have been a veteran but he was the proud son of a veteran and it showed in his actions.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 2nd Street SE, Watertown, SD. We will not be placing U.S. Flags, however, we will have Patriot Guard Rider Flags in his honor.
