Funeral/Burial Mission w/Military Honors

The family of Donald “Donnie” Eugene Nelson has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Donnie” with a flag line showing our appreciation, honor and respect for his service to our great Nation. Donnie joined the United States Navy soon after graduating from high school in 1975. While serving in the Navy, Donnie was trained as an Aircraft Mechanic and worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic in the position Machinist’s Mate. He felt very proud of the work he did with the training he received while serving his country. Donnie’s last duty station before receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1978 was in NAS Kingsville, TX. When his time in the Navy was completed, he returned to his home in Redfield, SD. He was a proud member of several Veterans Organizations following his service.
The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. which will be at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. A visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to Donnie’s funeral service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors. The Visitation and Funeral Service will be “FLAGS ONLY”.
Stage: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 24th at Greenlawn Cemetery, Highway 281 North
Redfield, SD. (N.on 281 to Center Rd.then turn West to Cemetery Rd. then south to the cemetery)
Flags will be provided at the cemetery.
