Burial w/Military Honors

SD Veterans’ Cemetery

   The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Alvin Frank Mescher Widener Sr. to show our appreciation and respect to Alvin with a flag line in honor of his service to our country.  Alvin grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School.  The day after graduation, he entered the United States Army, where he served from 1964 to 1967.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.  Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.  A private family burial will take place at the South Dakota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Sioux Falls.  Visitation and the Mass of Christian Burial will be “Flags Only”.

Stage: 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 10th at SD Veterans Cemetery, 25965 477th Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD.

Flags will be provided.
