“Flags Only”/Funeral Mission
February 14 & 15, 2025
Sioux Falls, SD

   The family of Allan “Al” Knutson has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Al” with a flag line showing our appreciation and respect for his service to our great Nation.  In 1954 “Al” joined the South Dakota Air National Guard and started working full time there in 1958 as an airplane mechanic until his retirement in 1991.

Al attended the Air National Guard NCO Academy in TN, Avionics training at Lowery Air Force Base, Denver, CO, and various other schools relating to working on the different airplanes.  While in the SDANG he worked on the F94, F89, F102, F100, and A7 airplanes.  (He also spent some time working on the B25. C47 T33 and C54.)  He always jumped at the change to get a ride in these planes.  He was most excited about his ride in the F-16.

The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.  Interment at West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery, Sinai, SD.  The family does not expect flags at the cemetery.  Visitation and the Funeral Service will be “Flags Only”.
