Funeral Mission/Burial/Military Honors
April 2 & 3, 2026

The family of Dennis W. Miles has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor Dennis, with flags, showing our appreciation and respect for his service to our great Nation.  Dennis was drafted in August, 1968 and entered the United States Army at Bangor, Maine.  His assignments while in the Army were at bases in Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Athens, Greece.  Dennis was honorably discharged from the Army in 1971.

While a student at the USD, Vermillion, Dennis in early 1972, joined the SD Army National Guard “D” Company of the 153rd Engineering Battalion at Springfield, SD.  In June, 1972 the entire 153rd Engr Bn was called to duty to assist with the deadly disaster caused by the Rapid City, SD flood.  In January 1993, Sergeant First Class Miles retired from the “D” Company 153rd Engr Bn, with over 24 years of active duty and Army National Guard service.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 3, 2026 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls.  His family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
