The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Dr. James (Jim) McGrann to show our appreciation and respect to Dr. McGrann with a flag line in honor of his service to his state and country. Dr. McGrann served his country in the United States Army after being drafted in the Vietnam War lottery. Fortunately, he was quickly identified as a “Why?” guy and shipped off to a medical laboratory, working as an emergency medic and medical technician. He was later discharged honorably as a Specialist 5 and subsequently joined the SD Army National Guard.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home. Interment will be a private family service with Military Honors in the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Monday September 15th, 2025. Visitation and the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will both be “Flags Only”.
Stage: 9:30 a.m., Monday September 15th at South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery.
