Funeral Mission

The family of Richard L. “Dick” Zimmerman has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Dick” with a flag line showing our appreciation and respect for his service to our great Nation. Dick entered the U.S. Army in 1959 and served for three years in Vietnam. He was also stationed in Kansas and Germany and then was honorably discharged in 1966 after completing his commitment to his country.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery, Aten, NE with Military Graveside Rites by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #781 Honor Guard, the SDARNGHG and the South Dakota Patriot Guard.
Stage for Visitation and Funeral: 12:30 PM, March 4th at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, 601 West 21st Street, Yankton, SD. Flags will be placed at the funeral chapel by 11:30 AM.
Stage: 3:00 PM following the funeral at Aten Cemetery, Rural Aten, NE, for Military Graveside Rites.
Flags will be provided for all elements of this mission.
