The family of Melvin “Mel” Ludens has invited the Patriot Guard show our appreciation and respect with a flag line in honor of his service in the SD Army National Guard. Mel worked as the unit administrator and First Sergeant for the 153rd Engineer Battalion SD National Guard in Springfield for 33 years. Mel was also a member of the Springfield Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for 10 years (1981-1991); the Springfield Ambulance Crew as an EMT; the Dwight Wood American Legion Post #132, where he served as Chaplain and the Vice President of the Springfield Veterans’ Memorial.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, in Springfield, SD with inurnment at the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield, with military honors.
Stage: 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, 1112 College St, Springfield, SD. Please remember to dress for your comfort with the morning temps that we are having this time of the year and know that your safety comes first if you need to step off line to warm up. Flags will be provided.
