The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Daniel Peter ‘Dan’ Steiner to show our appreciation and respect to Dan with a flag line in honor of his service to his and our great Nation. Dan served in the U.S. Army and was proud to have served his country in Korea from March of 1951 – 1953. He was a gunner on a Quad 50 and had many instances of close shelling during his tour of duty. He appreciated the respect Korean Vets received in receipt of the Certificate of Ambassador for Peace Medal awarded by Governor Thune in Pierre. He had displayed that medal every day since he received it.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM, Monday, July 1, 2019 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton, SD. Cremation will follow the Mass and the burial of his cremated remains will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Garden of Memories in Yankton, SD with Military Graveside Rites by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791 Honor Guard and the SDANGHG. Visitations will be 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, June 30, 2019 at St. Benedict Catholic Church and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Flags will be placed by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and will be a “Flags Only” flag line.
Stage for Funeral: 12:30 PM, Monday, July 1st at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1500 Saint Benedict Drive, Yankton, SD.
Stage for Burial: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 2nd at the Garden of Memories, 2901 Douglas Ave, Yankton, SD.
Flags will be provided for all elements of this mission.
