THE MEMORIAL RIDE Thursday, August 16th, 2012
We would like to honor the Patriot Guard Riders, the Legion Riders, and the Dakota Thunder for what they do for our families of the fallen. We also invite any member of the military, their families, and anyone who supports our troops and their families to ride with us.
I would also like to show thanks to everyone in the communities listed below. They were all customers of mine while I was working at the Jim Thompson Show, and were and still are very supportive to us. If you have never been to these communities, and their businesses, you are missing out!!!
We have organized a ride from Whitewood SD west on Hwy 34 to 24, through Aladdin WY, Hulett WY and then on into the KOA at Devils Tower Campground. At the end of the ride, around 330pm, we will be having a Bar B Q…those details are still getting worked out.
ACCOMODATIONS: The Iron Horse Inn in Whitewood has 200 hotel rooms, and covered bike parking. We will be working with them soon to negotiate rates. come the night before. Whitewood SD would love to host you!!!!
We have tent space reserved at the KOA in Devils Tower WY and you are welcome to stay, then you can be on hand for the Sunset Tree Planting, Celebrating Dennis’ Life.
We wish to have a fundraiser in conjunction with this ride, with two specific beneficiaries:
The Fallen Heroes Banner Project of South Dakota
The Women of War Project in Belle Fourche SD
There are 4 photographers who will be shooting all day, and we are working on selling all of those pictures, with proceeds going to the fundraiser.
There will also be a Poker Run, with prizes to be awarded during the Bar B Q at Devils Tower.
Rough idea of the day’s events:
We are submitting the request for the Fallen Heroes Banners to be in Hale Hall, downtown Whitewood.
VA Representatives may be on hand
7am to 9am pancake Feed – this is in the early stages….not finalized yet
9am Downtown Whitewood
Gather at the Historic Golden Wheel for the kickoff of the Ride and the Memorial Run. If things work out, we may be shooting an aerial photo of all of us before the ride begins!!!!!
Depart Whitewood SD 1030am for Aladdin WY
1130 – 1pm Aladdin WY
Memorial Run stop, refreshments, fuel, shopping!!!
145 to 3pm….Hulett Wyoming
Memorial Run Stop, shopping, refreshments, fuel
315pm depart for Devils Tower
330 arrive Devils Tower
Bar B Q and socializing, Poker Run Prizes, and the Memorial Program in Honor of our SPC Dennis Gregory Jensen.
