South Dakota Patriot Guard Riders

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A welcome home ceremony will be held for 67 Soldiers of
Company C, 1st Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment, South Dakota Army National
Guard, tomorrow 19 May 2012. The Rapid City-based 1-189th deployed in May 2011 with a mission to provide aerial medical evacuation support to U.S. and coalition forces.

Initial Staging will be 1345 in the Guard Hanger at Rapid City Regional Airport. Expected flight arrival time is 1420. From there we will escort the procession to the Civic Center (east side) where we will again set-up a flag line. The ceremony will be conducted at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center’s Rushmore Room in Rapid City. The unit is returning after completing a yearlong deployment to Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn. Gov. Dennis Daugaard and Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, the adjutant general of the SDNG, will be featured speakers at the ceremony.

Flags will be provided.
