28th Midwest Honor Flight “Welcome Home”

   The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand flag line for Midwest Honor Flight, Mission 28, that is making the Mission possible through Multiple Sponsorships by individuals and businesses in our Midwest area.  This will be the last of two flights scheduled for this Fall of 2025.  The Veterans being honored on this flight will tour areas of the Nations Capitol and many of the Veterans’ Memorials in Washington D.C. and then will be returning the evening of Tuesday, October 7th to the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, with a scheduled time for arrival of 9:00 PM.

As those that attended the previous Honor Flight know, we will continue to gather at the Cell Phone Lot as we have been doing in the past and the parking for us will still be in the parking lot by the hotel.  There will no longer be an escort of any kind in the future.  The ticketing area and Lobby will now be the Welcome Home Area for the Honor Flight Veterans.  We have been asked to stand, with U.S. Flags, in flag lines that will be in designated areas on both the upper level and on the lobby floor by the stairs and the elevator.

I know there may still be some questions concerning the changes and I plan to be at the Cell Phone Lot by 8:00 PM to try to answer some of those questions.  I am thinking, at this point, that we will have fewer people showing up since there is NO escort and that will mean that there may be fewer people to hold flags.  Anyone still wanting to ride to the welcome home certainly may.  So, your bike or your four wheels, that will be your choice.  We’ll just be happy to see you, however you get there.

We have had many “Thank You’s” and positive comments for what we do.  I hope that we can carry on this wonderful support and honor that we do for our Veterans.  I know that what we have done over the years has been one of the memorable parts of each our Heroes’ journey, thanks to all of you.  Our presence for the flag line is always one of the highlights of the Honor Flight for the veterans.  Please come if you can.
