EVENT/Veteran Celebration of Freedom
Escort Traveling Vietnam Wall
June 29th, 2022
Dimock, SD to Parkston, SD
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to assist in the escort of a Traveling Vietnam Wall that will be placed in the Parkston East City Park in observance of the Veteran Celebration of Freedom. The PGR has also been requested to raise our 30′ X 50′ U.S. flag on the opening day on Main Street in Parkston.
The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall will be viewable 24 HOURS A DAY in Parkston’s East City Park. The Wall, which is 360 feet long, will be on display along with 68 additional panels of other wars and conflicts throughout America’s history. Join us as we honor all those who served and pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Stage: 1:30 pm June 29th at the corner of Main & Depot in Parkston, SD to assist with the raising of our 30′ X 50′ flag that will fly over the parade route leading to the Parkston East City Park. After the flag is raised, anyone planning to be part of the escort will leave for the Dimock Dairy to meet the Traveling Vietnam Wall and return to Parkston with the escort. If you have a flag to mount on your bike or vehicle, please do fly your flag/flags.
The Ride Captain for the Escort: Ray Anderson, R.C.

Message from the Event Organizer
We have heard back from about 60 Vietnam Veterans that are going to be in Parkston to join us for the parade. If you talk to anyone else who either didn’t send their card back, or have changed their mind, please tell them to show up and we will put them in a car. Anyone wanting to ride through the parade should be in Parkston at the corner of Main Street and Bismark by 2:45 on Wednesday, June 29. (next Wednesday!)
Anyone wanting to help escort the wall down from Dimock should be at the Dimock Cheese Building by 2:45. The convoy leaves there at 3:30 on the DOT! We want the Vietnam Veterans to go to Parkston and not start with us in Dimock. Please invite anyone with a motorcycle, corvette, or any other classic cars to join us as we bring The Wall to town. We want it to be an IMPRESSIVE sight.
