It’s that time of the year again. The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited back for the third year to be present at the Sioux Empire Fair to raise “Old Glory” as a salute to our communities Veterans, Military and Emergency First Responders.
The Fair will be opening the evening of Friday, August 3rd and we will start set up in the afternoon at around 1:00 pm. If you are available to help during the day, stop out to help or to just see what we have set up and say “hi”. There is planning in the works for a ride-in around 5:00 pm and we will ride up to the Rosenbauer Fire Truck that will be used to raise our 30’x50′ flag each day of the fair. The bikes will be parked by the truck and we will raise the flag for the opening ceremonies of the fair while our National Anthem is played. The flag will be raised at 10:00 am each morning and lowered in the evening at 8:00pm for the remaining days of the fair. This is a great experience if you have never helped raise or lower the flag.
We will be present at our location by the fire truck each day of the fair and hope to have members help out at the booth when they are available. Any Veteran PGR members, with veteran ID, coming out to the fair will be admitted free at the gate along with one guest. If you will be riding in, you will need a gate pass, which I have. You will need to contact me to let me know when you will be coming so you can be met at the south gate (entry from 12th St.) to bring your bike into our area. I also have passes for our non-veteran members. Let me know the days you plan to attend and I will give you gate passes for those days. For all others, call me or State Captain, Jim Lentsch (605-240-0024) before you come or when you get there so we can meet you at the gate with a pass.
Bring your own folding chair if you plan to stay for a while. This is a good time to get our members together to meet our community (potential new members) and to introduce the Patriot Guard Riders to those that have never heard of us.
