Flag Line and Escort

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand flag line for a “Welcome Home” of the “Final Tour with Honor” Veteran’s Flight. This will be the Thirteenth and final Honor Flight for this year, 2022, with Veterans returning from a tour of the Veterans’ Memorials in Washington D.C. They will be returning on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 to the Sioux Falls Regional Airport with a scheduled time for arrival of 8:45 PM.
Looking forward to another great escort with the Veterans on flight number Thirteen. We have been asked to post a corridor of flags, in their honor, in the lobby of the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. They will exit through the lobby to the buses that will be waiting in front of the terminal. When they have all boarded the buses they will be taken to the Arena where family, friends and all others will be waiting to welcome them back from their journey. The Patriot Guard Riders have also been asked to assist with the escort of the buses from the airport to the Arena and resume our flag line in the Arena as the Veterans exit the buses.

Stage: 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 1st at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. If you are planning to participate in the escort, you will need to stage in the Cell Phone lot with the buses until it is confirmed that the plane has landed. Anyone wanting to come to the airport for the flag line only, will have to park in the “Short Term” parking lot. Staging to take place in the Cell Phone lot under the direction of SFPD – cycles in the second lane are permitted to stay put while individuals are inside participating in the flag line that has been formed for the initial welcome home for the members of Honor Flight #13.

Flags will be available for the flag line in the airport lobby and again at the Arena when the buses arrive there.

I would like to thank all that have participated in the welcome home missions this year. We have had many “Thank You’s” and positive comments for what we do and I hope that we can carry on this wonderful thing that we do, for our veterans, again in 2023.
