Funeral Mission
January 18, 2018
Sioux Falls, SD

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Paul M. Sellner to honor and show our respect and appreciation to Paul for his service to his and our country.  Paul entered the U.S. Navy Right after graduating high school.  He was trained in Morse code and Paul received and transmitted many messages during his time in service.  Stationed in the Caribbean during the Bay of Pigs Invasion of 1961 and patrolling the Windward Passage during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 were two particularly momentous times in his military career.  One story he often told was when he received the initial message that John F. Kennedy had been shot and the devastating news of his death.  Paul delivered this information to his ship’s captain, a man who attended Naval training with JFK.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls with interment following the funeral at Hills of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory.  Flags will be placed for a “flags only” flag line at visitation.

Stage: 9:30 AM, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3601 E Dudley Ln, Sioux Falls, SD.
