Funeral Mission w/Military Honors
October 8 & 9, 2026
Sioux Falls, SD

The family of H.I. “Joe” Johansson has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to honor “Joe”, with flags, showing our appreciation and respect for his service to our great Nation.  In 1963, Joe enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge in 1965, Joe returned to South Dakota and began working on his masters degree from SDSU.

Family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  Joe’s funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Friday, October 9, 2026 at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with burial and Military Honors at the South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

Flags will be posted 1-1/2 hrs prior to the visitation and the funeral.  This is done to have the flags in place and flying when family arrives at the funeral home and the church.

Stage: 12:30PM, Friday, October 9th at SD Veterans’ Cemetery, 25965 477th Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD.

Flags will be provided at the cemetery.
