The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of John J. Havelock III to show our appreciation and respect to John with a flag line in honor of his service to his and our great country. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to his service in Vietnam, he was stationed at Parris Island, SC for Boot camp, Jacksonville, FL for Aviation School then later Memphis, TN, Beaufort, SC, Cherry Point, NC and El Toro, CA. During his active service overseas, he was stationed in Tzugi, Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam before returning. His time in the United States Marines lead to his career as a Jet Engine Mechanic and worked for NASA for 47 years. John watched or was a part of 13 launches with NASA.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Visitation and the Memorial Service will both be “Flags Only”. A graveside service and Military Honors will be in the Hills of Rest Mausoleum following the Memorial Service.
Stage: 10:45 a.m., Saturday, November 19th at the Hills of Rest Mausoleum. Enter the cemetery through the gate in the rear parking lot at George Boom Funeral Home.
