EVENT for “Salute to Military”
Escort from Sioux Falls to Mitchell
October 26th, 2018
Sioux Falls to Mitchell

The dedication of the “Salute to Military” Murals at the World’s Only Corn Palace in Mitchell will be on Friday, October 26th, 2018.  The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to assist with the escort of the custom H-D Street Glide, which honors the history of Battleship South Dakota (BB 57) and also commemorates the new submarine South Dakota (SSN 790).  The escort will be to the event at the Corn Palace where the Street Glide will be put on display.

The riders will meet at the Battleship South Dakota Memorial at 12th St. and Kiwanis Avenue at 8:30am.  Coffee and donuts will be available.  A short program about the history of battleship South Dakota will be presented by Captain Diane Diekman, President of the Battleship Memorial Board. The ride will depart the memorial at 9:30am and plans to take a scenic, state highway route to Mitchell.  The group will arrive at the Corn Palace at 11am, with bike-only parking near the entrance to the Corn Palace.

The ride is being organized by the American Legion and the Patriot Guard Riders.  Please contact Dick Turnwall at 605-645-7442 for more information about the escort.  This event notification is being sent out to the PGR members and if any of our members are interested in joining the escort please R.S.V.P. me (Randy Ward, A.S.C.) to confirm your participation.  There are tentative plans for a social gathering of the participants at the American Legion on Thursday, Oct. 25th in the evening.
