Military Graveside Rites
May 12, 2018
Yankton, SD

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to post a flag line at the residence of William James “Bill” Kerr in honor of his service to his country.  The request includes an escort from the residence to Riverside Park Shelter #2 where there will be Military Graveside Rites by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791 Honor Guard and the SDANG Honor Guard.

After graduating High School, he talked the Army into accepting him after they rejected him because he was too tall (6’ 7”).  He served overseas as a Browning Automatic Rifleman in the infantry during the Battle of the Bulge.  He suffered from frozen feet because the Army had no winter boots to fit his size-16 feet.  He really wanted to be in the Air Force but he was too big to fit in the planes.

Stage: 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Kerr Residence, 1200 Douglas Ave, Yankton, SD for a flag line prior to the escort to the Park.  A flag line by the Patriot Guard will resume at the park for the Military Graveside Rites.

Flags will be provided.
