Here is the information for the 3rd Annual Veterans’/First Responders” Appreciation Day event in Watertown — we will be flying our big flag — and also putting up all 50 state flags with an American flag above each one — these will be put around the back side of the area as a back ground display — we did this the past 2 years and everyone was  very impressed.  Anyone that would be available to help with the set up or any part of the Appreciation Day would be welcomed.  The Stage time will be 1:00pm, September 15th, 2016 at the Stokes-Thomas War Memorial located on the northwest corner of Stokes-Thomas City Park on the shore of lake Kampeska.

Watertown’s 3rd Annual Veterans’/First Responders’ Appreciation Day
September 15th 2016 4:30pm – 7:30pm
(Program starts at 6:00pm)

Join Miss South Dakota 2015 at Stokes Thomas Park on September 15th as we honor our Veterans and First Responders with a free picnic, displays, entertainment and a chance for the kids to “Hug a Hero!”  The Watertown Sea of Goodwill and Watertown Community Foundation invite everyone out to beautiful Lake Kampeska for an evening honoring our military, veterans, and first responders.  Watertown’s 3rd Annual Veterans’/First Responders’ Appreciation Day event will be held September 15th 2016 at the Stokes-Thomas War Memorial from 4:30 to 7:30.  Show your support for those who serve us by attending the appreciation picnic and program at 6pm on September 15th.  Before and after the program, Veteran/First Responder Support Organizations from all over South Dakota will be providing information and offering services for our heroes.  Come enjoy the free picnic and entertainment.
Displays from over 40 organizations will open at 4:30 offering their services or discuss the support they can provide to those who serve.  There will be a short program featuring Autumn Simunek, Miss South Dakota 2015 and advocate for “Serving those who serve” from 6:00 to 6:30.  The program will recognize our community’s veterans and first responders, as well as the area businesses who support them.  Immediately following the free picnic, Our Therapy will be playing for your entertainment.
Come join all our Heroes, their families, and Veterans Support Organizations as Watertown’s way of saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.  Families are encouraged to bring their children to “Hug a Hero!” Through the generosity of our sponsors, this event is free to the public.
