Funeral Mission
April 29 & 30, 2022
Hartford/Sioux Falls, SD

The  SD Patriot Guard Riders has been notified of the passing of one of our long time members, Gene “Geneo” Jorgensen.  We have been requested by his family, to honor “Geneo” for his service to his country and his dedication to the Patriot Guard Riders and their mission.

Gene Arthur Jorgensen graduated from Hartford High School in 1961 and the following year he enlisted into the Army where he served 2 of his 3 years of Active Duty in Bitburg, Germany.  After completing his first military commitment in 1965, he continued to serve.  Gene dedicated 7 years to the SD Army National Guard, and 10 years to the SD Air National Guard.

During his years as a member of the PGR he attended many missions. Even after his health started to limit what he was able to do, he was there as much as he was able to participate.  We could pretty much count on, if Geneo was there for a mission, his two buddies were there too.  They became known as the “Three Amigos” and when not standing flag line you could always know where they were because of Geneo’s great infectious laugh.  He will be missed greatly.

A funeral will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Hartford United Methodist Church (102 E 2nd St, Hartford, SD) with burial, military honors to follow at 1:30 pm at the Hartford Community Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home – Westside Chapel (6200 W 41st St, Sioux Falls, SD.) We would like to honor Geneo at both the visitation (“Flags Only”) and the funeral/burial so if you are available to attend any or all parts of this mission to show your respect and honor, it would be very much appreciated.

Stage: 10:30 am, Saturday, April 30 at Hartford United Methodist Church, 102 E 2nd St, Hartford, SD.  Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at the Hartford Community Cemetery.  The visitation will be “Flags Only” on Friday.

Flags will be provided.
